Thank you to all my allies!!/ November 10, 2009-   Last day wrapping up this wonderful opportunity. I am still reaching out to all of my allies for last push. Nothing is impossible with allies! I have a great network. I am thankful to everyone for supporting me and doing the UNSELFISH work in the community few the courage to do. I utilized my blog space, the last 5 days to talk about ALL of our efforts.  I hope you enjoyed checking out other driving forces in the community. Please stop by the African American Chamber of Commerce central Florida Eagle Awards this Saturday to witness other driving forces recognized for outstanding achievement. You may visit www.blackcommerce.org for more information.   Special, special, special thank you to Dione Newman (Allied Group account manager) for spending hours of her personal time to help me achieve this goal. You can always tell where your support is when you are in need.  Neither one of us had a chance to take a photo in the car, I guess we were too busy hustling!!! Also thank you to my sister Iyshaa and Mom for keeping my little one in Atlanta while I made this HUGE sacrifice of personal time. I miss my baby but I am trying to make the world a better place for her to grow up in. So sad, that I have to turn in the car, I just starting using the cd changer (it is a pretty cool NEW feature different from old cd changers) it is hard to explain so I guess you will have to go test drive the NEW Cadillac Escalade Hybrid to see what I am talking about.   We are allies. We are one. www.thealliedgroup.info “Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners, and necessity has made us allies. Blog for Billy Hall/ November 10, 2009-   Last night I attended a benefit for local piano player Billy Hall who is terminally ill with cancer. Yvonne Coleman,Billy Hall and countless other musicians for the past year play jazz every Monday at the Bohemian Hotel (downtown Orlando) The FOR FREE event called "Jazz for Jesus" is where musicians play for tips to give away to needy people. It saddens me to say that last night the person in need was the founder of the program Billy Hall. My eyes are filled with tears as I type and I pray that things get better for Billy and his family for more information about how you can contribute to his cancer fund email me at tfigaro@thealliedgroup.info Billy, your work will never be in vain and will live on forever. And now stays faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1 Corinthians 13:13READ MORE

Community Cadillac visits Girl Scouts of Citrus Council/ November 09, 2009-   Today was the same as most days; the only thing that is different about my community outreach is having the ability to provide service in the Cadillac Escalade. My meeting with Sara Au, Community Development Manager, was set to discuss showing the Girl Scouts more LOVE in central Florida. As a former Girl Scout, I am aware of the difference it could make in the life of young girl. Sara (like most people) was impressed with the automatic footstep (my built in gentlemen) Girl Scouts of Citrus Council builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Serving nearly 18,000 girls in the Central Florida community, with the assistance of more than 8000 committed adult volunteers, today's Girl Scout is prepped for her leadership role as tomorrow's woman.   Girl Scouting is not just about cookies, camping and crafts anymore, the organization focusses on four initiatives: healthy living, financial literacy, outdoor education and conservation, and science/technology/engineering/math (STEM) outreach. Did you know jobs that require computer and math skills are projected to grow by more than 20% in the next decade? Unfortunately, studies show girls begin to lose confidence and interest in science and math during middle school. Regarding healthy living and self-esteem, the Dove Foundation recently found that two thirds of girls (68%) in Orlando-Daytona Beach believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members. The majority of these girls reported engaging in negative or risky behaviors, such as disordered eating, cutting, bullying, smoking, or drinking, when feeling badly about themselves. It's a cycle the council is working hard to break, and I support their efforts.   Girl Scouts of Citrus Council also addresses some of the most prevalent systemic causes behind poverty, hunger, homelessness, and violence. They mentor girls who are at-risk of becoming a part of the juvenile justice system. They fund girls who's families can't afford for them to be a Girl Scout. They have an anti-bullying campaign that has won the support of the Orlando Police Department for it's innovative approach. And, their financial literacy program works to prep girls to handle their future responsibilities as heads of households with children, a responsibility that women, far more often than men, shoulder these days.     The bottom line is that today's Girl Scout is still an amazing girl, but they need the community's support more than ever. I'm working with them on a number of projects, and you can help, too: donate and support a girl today!    http://store.citrus-gs.org/store/category/24/163/GIFTS-FOR-GIRLS/READ MORE

Today the Habitat for Humanity team donated clothing and non perishable food items to the food harvest bank and the Salvation Army. The roomy Cadillac had ample room for the donation. Lynn Ivanek director food development says  “ what an awesome truck and Courtney Patchin, development coordinator says”  the hybrid is so quite, I cant believe it is on. If I win the Cadillac driving force contest, Habitat for Humanity Orlando will designate the proceeds towards women build 2010.   Click here http://www.habitat-orlando.org/Women-Build for more information to learn how you can join 7,000 women across the country!READ MORE
