About Me

Niki Paksoy is the Director of Marketing and Creative Services at United Way of Tampa Bay. She grew up in advertising and was a copywriter at several local ad agencies and corporations, including Florida Power and AAA. A former president of the Tampa Bay Advertising Federation, she remained on the board after being inspired by Rhea Law to help a young person achieve a dream, and in the last two years she has overseen the organization’s scholarship program. Niki  and her husband sail out John’s Pass into the Gulf as often as possible and with as many friends on board as will fit, and once suspended real life for a year cruising. They have chartered boats in Turkey, Italy, France, the Bahamas and the San Juan Islands. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and still pulls for the Tarheels every March.

Just drive north./ November 23, 2009- My red SRX carried nearly the entire United Way of Tampa Bay Marketing Dept. on a joy ride and to lunch today. Victor poked around for how to hook up his Ipod - found it in the large storage compartment between the front seats. Doug loved the crispness of the Cadillac logo that shows up in the information circle as you turn on the car. Tim made me open and close the trunk lid 23 times - ok, just twice - and we discovered another delightful feature - the button on the trunk that you push to close the lid. Way cool! I figured how to raise the driver's seat. Everyone was amazed at the huge sunroof. "Just drive north and never bring it back!" I won't tell you who recommended that.READ MORE

OnStar saved the day/ November 22, 2009- As we headed down to meet Doug and Nancy at an unfamiliar location, we decided to try OnStar. Pushed one button and the rest was hands free. We didn't even have an address, just a town and a store name, and she got us there. I'm hooked!READ MORE

A day at the beach/ November 22, 2009- The trunk is huge, we could have carried our recycling for a year. Instead Steven and I took our 2-weeks' worth to the green bins Madeira Beach provides and headed down to the Sand Bar on Anna Maria, picking up our friends Doug and Nancy on the way. They raved about the SRX. Nancy makes jewelry and after sharing her creations with us, stored them in the trunk and made sure they were out of view by using the trunk cover. Best trunk setting: full. Doug shot video (post to come!), hooked up to his camera to the car and watched the video on the way home. We opened the sun roof that doesn't stop all the way and he taped the Manatee River as we drove over it - and watched that live. Steven is always hot and I'm always cold so the temperature control, where he can be on 65 and I can be on 75 is awesome. When we got home, Steven and I took a DVD out to the car, cranked up the sound and sat in the back seat enjoying a movie. What will the neighbors think! READ MORE

Once a year/ November 21, 2009- Once a year we attend an opera. Imagine my excitement when I had the gorgeous red SRX to drive to the Tampa Opera presentation of Lucia de Lammermoor last night. We arrived in style. My husband loves the paint job. I love that the headlights stay on after you turn the car off while you fumble with keys, purses and wraps. They come on automatically, too.  I did manage to keep my mind on the performance, which was fabulous, too. READ MORE
