About Me

As the public relations specialist for the international home furnishings giant IKEA and their newest Tampa store, Debra Kent Faulk has found the perfect place to simultaneously nurture her flair for retail marketing and increase her support of a community she has adopted as her home. Prior to joining IKEA Tampa in January 2009 (the Tampa store opened May 6, 2009), Debra, in her role as an independent public relations practitioner served as a consultant to a variety of nonprofit clients and governmental agencies, including United Way of Tampa Bay, Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, Tampa Bay Partnership, and City of Tampa. Her strength is in grassroots communication and community-build strategies and she has honed these skills through various positions in the shopping industry and as a nonprofit executive. Debra just completed her 5th years as a Breast Cancer 3Day participant; a 60-mile walk over the course of three days to raise money for breast cancer treatment and research through the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She receives great support of her work and community service activities from her husband Tom, and their two boys, Clayton (17) and Zach (13). Debra and her guys will be working hard to encourage their friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else they meet to click here in order to “win” Cadillac’s $500 donation for the Children’s Dream Fund, a St. Petersburg-based nonprofit organization making dreams come true for seriously ill children throughout Tampa Bay for the past 25 years!

Sorry Sunpass people!/ November 23, 2009- Big boo-boo today. I was enjoying the smooth and ever-so-quiet ride tonight that I forgot to take out my Sunpass when going through the toll booth. Oops! So when the Sunpass folks send a note about an Champagne-colored SRX zipping through without paying, please tell them I'm sorry! If the car wasn't so comfortable, I surely wouldn't have forgotten!!READ MORE

This really works .../ November 22, 2009- Hey Dew Cadillac! A friend from Chicago saw my post and is seriously looking into buying the SRX now that she has read my blog (after connecting on Facebook). If she buys, does that give me a few more points to steer that $500 to the Children's Dream Fund? There are so many sick children just waiting for the Dream Fund to make their dreams come through (and the days a litter easier ....). This promotion is awesome!! Thank you for supporting our community!READ MORE

Still gas in the tank/ November 22, 2009- The SRX is unloaded (well, except for those 100 IKEA catalogues stored in that secret compartment) and ready for game night with the gals! Of course, I'm driving ... even though I'll have to go north to pick up friends before heading south to our host. But, no worries, after days of driving, including several back and forth from South Tampa to Sarasota, I still have plenty of gas left in the tank. Plus, it's another reason to show off Korbel's finer points like the quiet, quiet drive, XM radio, and televisions for back seat guests!READ MORE

Shhh...it's a secret/ November 22, 2009- Did I tell you about Korbel's secret little -- well, actually BIG -- compartment in the back hatch? After the tailgate magically lifts after a quick push of a button on the "fob" (remember, it's a keyless car), you then lift another hatch and there's deep, personal storage. After my IKEA event at Habitat for Humanity, I was able to put about 100 IKEA catalogues in there! Which left lots of room for my Sunday adventures (and the 8ft table I needed to bring with me to a craft fair).READ MORE
