Thank you for a great week and a terrific ride!

The SRX is back in Venice and I want a new car. Thank you Cadillac -- Crest Cadillac in particular -- for a really fun experience and a wonderful car to drive. Your promotion was a terrific idea. Kudos to some really smart agency or marketing guru. The down side here is now I have unrealistic expectations of my "old" vehicle. And I seem to have forgotten how to turn the key, punch in numbers on my phone and back up without visual aids. My radio options are now grim. Benley isn't speaking to me. And Maddie looks at the back of the headrest with distain. Perhaps some kind of SRX withdrawal therapy is in order. So sad....................

Sad Last Day

Overcast and windy, what a sad last day with the SRX. Just when I was getting really good with the handy steering wheel controls. Unfortunately, had to work and not drive around today. With the exception of a few visits to clients and work sites. Great car. I'm really going to miss the terrific, easy to use navigation system. But suspect I can't come up with any good excuses to keep it past lunch tomorrow.

Sunday, Day 4

Beautiful drive to Venice and the Crow's Nest. Wonderful view -- I could see people checking out the car in the lot. Dinner was terrific as always and we had a relaxing, comfortable drive back up the coast to Sarasota. The SRX is loaded with permit materials for an early morning ride to the building department and then out to meet with prospective clients and their architect. They've elected to let me drive. Wonder why?

Saturday, Day 3

Dear Cadillac Weatherman: GREAT JOB! We had another gorgeous Florida west coast fall day -- sunny, breezy. Not exactly "crisp" but close enough. Can't compete with Fall in Maryland, but then we have the Gators...but I digress thinking about what fun the car would be driving to a University of Maryland football game. Instead, put the reeeaaaaallllllyyyyy big sun roof all the way back and played with the satellite radio driving up Longboat Key. Found some great places to shop and picked up some friends along the way. The seats adjust really nicely for really tall people. And the groceries really do hang perfectly from the little hooks in the storage area. Picked up Nikki and Trevor to go to Trevor's surprise birthday party in Osprey. Decided it was a nice evening to open it up a little on I-75. Really a spunky car. Today was too nice to be inside, so I picked up friends and drove up to the Dali Museum in St. Pete. It was nice to visit old stomping grounds, but a really easy, comfortable drive. Really great car. Still waiting for my job offer from Cadillac. It's time to head out for the Crow's Nest in Venice for dinner.

Friday, Day w

Dear Cadillac, I no longer want to work at Rock Solid. I want to drive all day and just have fun. Perhaps you could just send me on a national tour? Seriously, being stuck in an office is no fun. Bentley got his first ride today and doesn't want to stop. Plenty of room for a standard poodle in the back. Visited Marina Jacks for the view and the food -- the valets had no problem parking the SRX right out front (and center). Lunch was cut short by colleague's request for short ride up Longboat Key. Top back. First really great sunny breezy cool fall day -- lunch ran a little longer than anticipated. Bose speakers are phenomenal and satellite radio has changed my life. Off to job site so partner Perry could see why I was missing in action from desk. Took no time at all to explain -- took a lot of time to get him out of the car. Coughlin Project looks great. Photo's to follow. Found it necessary to take Bayshore on the way back to office. Had to pick up birthday treats for son -in- law Trevor. Shhhhhhh. Ladies in the shop came out to see how many of them could fit in and then off to the office. Nicest Friday I've had in a while. This morning the SRX, Bentley and I have been to the farmers market, quick stop for second coffee with friends and off to Sidewalk Sale by Designing Daughters. Art show later -- down the coast tonight for party. Looks like I'm the driver of choice. Margie

First Day with the SRX

Most days just don’t start off with this much fun! Nikki, Maddie and I didn't want to waste a minute, so we were up early and drove the 34 miles south to Venice’s Crest Cadillac dealership. John and Linda were gracious, knowledgeable and they gave me gifts and a new car to drive. John and Linda immediately advanced to my “favorite people” list.     Linda walked me through NEW SRX COURSE 101 while Nikki , the experienced Mom, easily installed the baby seat in the back seat. Key word here: “easily.” Those of you who have installed baby seats know what I mean. It can be a frustrating experience when there isn't room to maneuver – the SRX’s back seat is really roomy. Nikki got the base in, popped Maddie in, and off we went!   The SRX (mine is silver) is absolutely beautiful. Great acceleration -- Great maneuverability -- Great field of vision front, side and rear. Cadillac has made backing up fun! Cameras, beeping sensors, headlights that come on by themselves and sweep around corners… I’m still finding new buttons and (technical word here) gismos.   And the phone system…let’s just say I was given 100 free minutes and I’m hoping for a re-fill. Can’t believe I’m doing business hands free, headset free – just pushing a button and dictating a number.   The car had a fun day – we called friends in their offices to come out and look -- drove to The Pines to show the car to Bill. The rear door opens and shuts with the click of the remote – with plenty of room in the back for Rock Solid signs which were delivered to a new job site, and groceries which snuggle into a compartment that even has little hooks to hold the plastic grocery bags! Cadillac – you must have a woman designer!   The SRX was parked “dramatically” at the Pines’ Beauty of Aging Luncheon just before noon while the guests arrived and had a chance to oggle. We gave out post cards with a picture of the car and news about potential charitable donation from Cadillac with enough hits on the Profile – hopefully you are all checking out my Profile frequently!   I exhausted all excuses to keep driving and avoid the office, so I parked in the lot early afternoon only to be rudely interrupted by colleagues and co-workers who wanted to open the doors, sniff the new car small and check out the storage. Actually I took a ride in the back seat while co-workers drove around the block – I’m 5’8” – closer to 6’ with heals – and could stretch out my legs with plenty of room to spare. Really good use of interior space – and the ride is equally good in the back seat.   Back through town at 6 to help daughter Nikki and Designing Daughters prepare for the Sidewalk Sale Saturday (benefitting Designing Women). Off for dinner at Libby’s. Everywhere the SRX is parked, people gawk. (No, it isn’t my parking!)   Neighbors walking dogs and jogging found excuses to use my circular drive this morning, much to Bentley’s delight. He is still waiting for his ride. Many comments on the attractive use of black accents with the silver. Beautiful car, just beautiful.   Picking up a colleague from Kraft Construction for lunch, then off to a job site so my partner can see why I’ve been too busy to work.   Margie       Marjorie Broughton, President Rock Solid Construction Group, Inc.
